So yesterday my day on the Hill was quite successful. The plan was to drop resumes off at the 11 bay area democratic house representatives and go to the Senate placement office to submit my resume if anyone inquires. The resume drops went well. Had some positive hope that people might contact me about an internship soon but Woolsey’s office gave me an interview for an internship next wednesday. When I was walking to the cafeteria to get lunch I met a woman who is a senior staffer for one of the longest running representatives in the House who invited me up to talk about getting a job on the Hill. She gave me some great advice and walked me down to the House version of the Senate placement office. She also got me a pass to take the underground tunnels and tram over to the Senate side so I could do their office too. In the middle of this, I found out I got the Press Internship I had interviewed for on Tuesday. I went to Woolsey’s office to cancel my interview, and barely out the door, they called me to say they wanted me to intern for them. Howevever, When I went back to talk to them they said that I had a better opportunity with the Press Internship to have more exposure and responsibility, and they would keep a spot open for me in Sept. if I needed to move to a part time internship for financial reasons. All in all, very successful day. Right now I’m on my way to NYC, having had met one of Barbara Boxer’s council this morning for coffee.
